A Glass Act

02 Sep 2010

Is stained glass cool, fashion forward, on trend? It definitely is for Meredith German, the jewellery designer behind the luxury label Meredith Wendell.

The jewellery features hand-blown glass from a glass factory in Indiana that was the original glass manufacturer for Tiffany & Co. The factory can produce over 22,000 colour combinations – pretty spectacular! The glass is cut specifically for each item of jewellery from a single 64″ x 32″ glass sheet making each piece of jewellery unique and one of a kind in colour. The photo above was taken in the glass factory – the glass sheets just look so beautiful with the sunlight traveling down the corridor.

Each item of jewellery is handcrafted in brass and then hand dipped in 18k yellow gold. The craftsmanship is outstanding on each piece, and the matte gold is the perfect base for the vibrant coloured glass.

Meredith German worked in the accessories design department at Marc by Marc Jacobs, before launching her own line in 2008. The label is named after Meredith and her husband, Wendell.

The jewellery collection is exclusive to Kabiri in the UK.
